Delicious 17 - Emily's Road Trip Guide

Emily and the O’Malley family take a nostalgic road trip through the American heartland along Route 66 and discover what is truly important in life. Sometimes it’s not the destination, but the journey and those who make the journey with you.

Game Summary

  • 60 basic levels
  • 30 challenge levels
  • Side objectives earn 0 points; completing them as part of normal play is not necessary for 3 stars
  • Level 4-5 in hard mode is impossible to obtain 3 gems
  • Level 40 in hard mode is impossible to obtain 3 stars or the challenge gem
  • Level 38 is very difficult in hard mode; see tips and walkthrough below
  • Level 39 is very difficult in hard mode; see tips and walkthrough below
  • The most important room upgrade to purchase ASAP are:
    • Room 1

    • Room 2
      • Cleaning Kit: Emily helps Betty
      • New Fryer: Adds 1 fryer
      • Wax Machine: Server moves faster
    • Room 3
      • Cleaner: Patrick cleans tables
      • Stone Trail: Server moves faster
      • New Grill: Adds an extra grill
    • Room 4
      • New Beer Tap: Beer pours faster
      • New Coffee Machine: Adds an additional coffee spout
      • Deluxe Countertop: Server moves faster

      • Hose: Server moves faster
  • All room upgrades are not achievable with 1 play-through: upgrades cost $29,150; 1 play-through of all basic levels with 3 stars gives you $27,000. Replay every basic level, with 3 stars, in rooms 1 & 6 OR rooms 2 & 5 OR rooms 3 & 4 to make up the shortfall. You receive no coins from playing either the challenge levels or the daily challenge.
  • It is not possible to get all menu upgrades in 1 play-through. The probability of getting a specific menu item depends on the difficulty mode. For example, in room 1 (Ecomarket), the odds of a customer ordering a salad are much better in expert mode than beginner mode, but the odds of a customer ordering marmalade are much better in beginner mode than expert mode. To learn which difficulty mode is best for each menu item, see the Menu Upgrade sections for each room.
  • It is not possible to get all gems in 1 play-through. You’ll need 189 gems to purchase all 19 camp items. You’ll only receive 147 gems from playing the basic and challenge levels. Replaying these levels does not give you additional gems. You need to play the daily challenge 7 times, earning 3 stars each time, to get the addition 42 gems. By earning 3 stars, you receive 6 gems.
  • Comparing the 3 difficulty modes (easy, normal, hard), I found the following:
    • target scores are the same regardless of difficulty
    • number of customers served is the same
    • number of menu items served is the same
    • the total tips received per level is generally the same
    • menu items are different; hard mode tends towards the harder menu items
    • customer patience levels are different: easy mode gets more time per heart than normal mode; normal mode get more than hard.
    • more time is allocated to play levels in easy mode than normal/hard mode and customers arrive at a slower pace; normal and hard modes are the same. For example, you have 7 minutes 27 seconds to play level 10 in easy mode; 5 minutes 5 seconds in normal/hard modes.

Menu Upgrades

The following chart illustrates which menu upgrades are possible with 1 play-through for each difficulty mode.

Grilled vegetables, for example, require 25 items served to upgrade. However, you’ll need to play around 20-22 levels in easy mode to get these 25 items. There are only 15 levels in this room so one play-through won’t be enough. In normal mode, 5-6 levels are required. In hard mode, 4-5 levels. Hard mode has the best odds of getting these items with the least number of levels played.

Salad is not achievable in 1 play-through, in any of the 3 modes. However, easy mode requires you to play about 54 levels to get the required 55; normal, about 37 levels. And hard, about 28 levels. Hard mode is the best bet for getting these items with the least number of levels played.

For example, the menu requires 20 items served to upgrade. However, you’ll need to play around 23-30 levels in normal mode to get these 20 items. In hard mode, I was only able to achieve it once, until I gave up. It required 61 levels. Easy mode, 14 levels. Easy mode has the best odds of getting these items with the least number of levels played.

Tips:

  1. Make sure all restaurant and menu item upgrades are applied. Especially the burger upgrade. That being said, I prefer to work with the non-upgraded darts; the colours are clearer to me.
  2. Keep trying until the menu is more in your favour. The first few times I played this, everyone seemed to want burgers. But, as you can see from this video, the selected menu items were easier.
  3. The dart player’s hearts stop once you give them their full order. Use this to your advantage and try to pair them up for check-out combos.
  4. Try to keep a burger on the grill and the chili prepping.

Walkthrough Level 39 (Hard Mode)

Tips:

  1. Make sure all restaurant and menu item upgrades are applied. Especially the burger upgrade. That being said, I prefer to work with the non-upgraded darts; the colours are clearer to me.

  3. The dart player’s hearts stop once you give them their full order. Use this to your advantage and try to pair them up for check-out combos.
  4. Keep the last dart player around until the very end. Make sure you’ve served them first. With their hearts stopped, complete the side objective of 20 chilis.

Level 4-5 (Hard Mode)

The 3 gems are impossible to get in hard mode. Switch to either easy or normal mode.

Level 40 (Hard Mode)

The 3 stars and the gem are impossible to achieve in hard mode. Switch to either easy or normal mode.

The following chart illustrates which menu upgrades are possible with 1 play-through for each difficulty mode.

Burgers, for example, require 61 items served to upgrade. However, you’ll need to play around 27-34 levels in easy mode to get these 61 items. Burgers only occur in levels 36 onwards, so you’ll have to cycle through these 7 levels 4 to 5 times before you can upgrade. In normal mode, 9-11 levels are required (2 cycles). In hard mode, 6 levels. Hard mode has the best odds of getting these items with the least number of levels played. But be warned: levels 38 thru 40 in hard mode are extremely frustrating to play, even if you’re not playing for stars and side objectives.

Achievements

A Nice Camp

Use diamonds to purchase all the camp’s stuff (19 items).

You’ll need 189 gems to purchase all 19 camp items. You’ll only receive 147 gems from playing the basic and challenge levels. Replaying these levels does not give you additional gems.

You need to play the daily challenge 7 times, earning 3 stars each time, to get the additional 42 gems. By earning 3 stars, you receive 6 gems.

Completist Shopper

Buy every product from every shop (48 products).

There are 48 room upgrades available. The total cost of purchasing these upgrades is $29,150. If you receive 3 stars on all basic levels, you’ll receive $27,000. You’ll be short $2,150. You receive additional coins by replaying levels, but only 25% of original amount.

For example, in room 1 (Eco-market), you receive $100 coins for each star in all basic levels. There are 10 basic levels, 3 stars per level. The maximum you can receive from initial play is $3000. You do not receive any coins for challenge levels. Replaying any level in room 1 will earn $25 for each star.

Each room has a different coin count.

Room 1: Initial $100/star; Replay $25/star

Room 2: Initial $120/star; Replay $30/star

Room 3: Initial $140/star; Replay $35/star

Room 4: Initial $160/star; Replay $40/star

Room 5: Initial $180/star; Replay $45/star

Room 6: Initial $200/star; Replay $50/star

By replaying every basic level in rooms 1 & 6 OR rooms 2 & 5 OR rooms 3 & 4, you’ll receive $2,250 which will make up for the $2150 shortfall.

Note: You’ll receive no coins from playing either the challenge levels or daily challenge.

Room 2: 11 menu items

Room 3: 8 menu items

Room 4: 9 menu items
